MNA National Desk: Six people, including two policemen, were killed and 50 people injured in bomb blasts in front of Gotatikor Madrasah adjacent to militant den Atia Mahal in Dakkhin Surma upazila in Sylhet.
Jedan Al Musa, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, said two people carrying bombs came to the spot riding a motorcycle and hurled those around 6:45pm when one of the bombs went off, leaving BCL activist Atiq Rahman Apu, 20, dead on the spot and 17 people injured, while another bomb remained unexploded.
Minutes later, the unexploded bomb went off when police picked it up to diffuse, leaving Sylhet court inspector Abu Kawsar dead on the spot and officer-in-charge (investigation) Monir Hossain of Jalalabad Police Station, and OC Shah Harun-or-Rashid of Dakkhin Surma Police Station were seriously injured.
Lieutenant colonel Abul Kalam Azad, chief of the intelligence wing of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) who was seriously injured in the blasts on Saturday, was flown to Singapore on Sunday night for better treatment.
