Grameenphone donates Tk 30 crore to labour welfare fund

MNA Business Desk: Grameenphone on Sunday contributed Tk 300 million to the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation Fund, the operator said in a press statement. A three-member delegation from Grameenphone led by its Chief Human Resources Officer CHRO Syed Tanvir Husain handed over the cheque to the Secretary of the Ministry Mr. K. M. Abdus Salam at the Secretariat. Grameenphone had been regularly contributing a certain portion of its profits to the Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation. BTRC to slash GP, Robi’s bandwidth

MNA Business Desk: The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has decided to reduce the bandwidth capacity Grameenphone and Robi as they failed to pay their dues to the government. Zakir Hossain Khan, Senior Assistant Director (PR) of BTRC, told UNB that 30 per cent bandwidth capacity of GP and 15 percent of Robi will be slashed as they could not clear their dues despite repeated notices. Grameenphone to use ‘013’ prefix

MNA Business Desk: Grameenphone has been given the permission to use ‘013’  as a second prefix for mobile-phone numbers in addition to the old ‘017’series. BTRC Chairman Shahjahan Mahmood said that the operator has been permitted to use the new series on some conditions. But the BTRC chief did not disclose the conditions. However, Grameenphone applied for the new prefix last year, stating around 100 million numbers with ‘017’ prefix would soon be exhausted.
