MNA Feature Desk: The World Environment Day was observed in the country as elsewhere around the world on Tuesday with a call to refuse those cannot be reused.
Ever since its conception in 1974, World Environment Day has had a special theme relating to the pressing environmental concern at the time.
The theme for the year 2018 is “Beat Plastic Pollution”, and is a call for individuals to take charge of their surroundings and realise the severity of using plastic in daily life.
Different organisations observed the day with elaborate programmes. International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) organised a seminar at the Jatiya Press Club on the occasion.
The day is celebrated every year on June 5 throughout the world with different themes to create awareness about the importance of protecting planet Earth and Mother Nature.
