Biopic on Bangabandhu to be India-Bangladesh joint production

MNA Entertainment Desk: The Bangladesh government has chosen Indian film director Shyam Benegal to helm a Bangla film on the life and works of Bangladesh’s Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

State Minister for Information Tarana Halim told the media at her Secretariat office, “Shyam Benegal has made a biographical movie on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose [2004 film Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero]. We have selected him considering his work.”

She informed that though India proposed the names of Goutam Ghose and Kaushik Ganguly apart from Shyam Benegal, Bangladesh selected Benegal, who is the recipient of the Padma Bhushan, the Padma Shri and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

Tarana said as per the joint initiative between Bangladesh and India, Benegal will be aided by a three-member panel of experts, reported news agency.
