Guard the Polling Station: Dr Kamal

MNA National Desk: Jatiya Oikyafront leader Dr Kamal Hossain urged the people to guard polling stations on the election day to protect democracy while mentioning the citizens as the owners of the country.

“You’re the owners of the country. You need to wake up to establish your ownership”, he said while addressing a public rally of the Jatiya Oikyafront at Suhrawardy Udyan today, Nov 6.

The rally formally started around 1:30pm on Tuesday with recitation from the holy Quran as on Monday, the alliance got conditional permission from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to hold the public rally at Suhrawardy Udyan. As per the conditions, the rally must be concluded by 5pm.

It is the third rally of the Oikyafront after rallies in Sylhet and Chattogram on October 24 and 27 respectively.

Thousands of leaders and activists of the BNP gathered from 11am holding placards, banners and portraits of its founder Ziaur Rahman, chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and acting chairman Tarique Rahman.

From the rallies, the Oikyafront is repeatedly placing their seven-point demands which include installation of a neutral interim government, dissolution of parliament, reconstitution the Election Commission, release of all the political prisoners, deployment of army and cancellation Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) use for holding the next polls in fair and acceptable manner.

On October 13, BNP together with Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, JSD and Nagorik Oikya launched the Jatiyo Oikyafront to press for their seven-point demand.
