MNA National Desk: The fire at Gulshan-1 Dhaka North City Corporation market still out of control since it began in the wee hours.
The market that houses over 600 shops caught fire around 2:00am today. Worries are most of the shops have been cleaned.
About 22 firefighters were working to douse the flames, Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence control room said.
Several hundred shops were burnt down and a small portion of the two-storey market collapsed following the fire. The cause of fire could not be known immediately.
Inspector general of police AKM Shahidul Hoque, Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia , Dhaka North City Corporation mayor Annisul Huq have already visited the spot.
Fire service headquarters’ control room officer Babul Mia spoke of a rescue operation in the early morning where at least six people were saved.
