MNA National Desk: As the monsoon wind continued to bring heavy rain across the country, city dwellers also continued their struggle against roads inundated by water. With the rain forecast to continue until Friday, the situation may worsen before it gets better.
The monsoon rain has taken a huge toll on the roads of Dhaka city. The Tuesday and Wednesday rains were nothing short of livid nightmares for commuters.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department recorded 103mm rainfall over 24 hours from Tuesday to Wednesday, which is seven times more than the forecast.
Major city thoroughfares, including Mirpur, Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue, Hatirjheel, Panthapath, Shahbagh, Paltan, Motijheel, Gulshan and Baridhara, Dhanmondi, Banani, Kakrail, Rampura saw serious traffic snarls.
