MNA National Desk: Al Haiatul Ulaya Lil-Jamiatul Kawmiya Bangladesh, a Qawmi madrasa board, started their ‘Shukrana Mahfil’ (thanks giving rally) on Sunday morning at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina joined the rally around 11am as the chief guest.
The body arranged the rally to hail the government for giving the Dawra-e-Hadith (Taqmil) of Qawmi Madrasas the status of master’s degree.
Allama Ahmad Shafi is the chairman of this oragnisation. Thousands of Hefajat activists have been gathering at Suhrawardy Udyan to join the rally since morning.
On September 18, parliament passed a bill to recognize the Dawra-e-Hadith (Takmil) degree with the status of a post-graduate degree in Islamic Studies and Arabic.
