Model Sabira commits suicide after posting video

MNA Culture & Entertainment Desk: Model Sabira Hossain commits suicide after posting video blaming her boyfriend on facebook. The video shows her talking to her boyfriend (not present in the video) as she was stabbing different body parts of herself.

Police recovered the body of model Sabira Hossain from her apartment at capital’s Mirpur on Tuesday morning. Sabira Hossain, 21-years-old, was working as a marketing executive at Gaan Bangla Music Channel in the capital.

Rupnagar police station officer-in-charge Shahin Fakir said that, they recovered the body, which was hanging with a ceiling fan in her rented flat at Rupnagar at about 6:30am.

Rupnagar thana Sub-Inspector (SI), Zohra Khatun, said they recovered the dead body and sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for medical examination.

Sabira has been living in a sublet room of a flat located on Road No. 12 in the area. A suicide note and a video message have been found posted on her facebook account before she committed suicide on the day.

The video shows that Sabira presses a knife on her belly and throat repeatedly. Being failed, she says, “I’ve failed for the time being. Now, I’ll take next step.”

Addressing her colleague Nirjhar Sinha Raunaq, Sabira Hosayn says, “I’m not blaming you. I’m just telling your younger brother. He told me whatever he liked. And the best part of it is that Prottoy (the younger brother) got me out of the house. My question is ‘Didn’t you feel inconvenience?”

She also writes addressing Nirjhar: “You use me whenever you like, do physical relation with me and I’ll tolerate all these things–it’s totally unacceptable. I’ll come to you owing to our love, OK. Whenever I talk about marriage, your family cites problems, but everything is alright regarding the physical relation. I can’t tolerate it anymore. Now, I’m committing suicide only for you.”

Sabira again writes: “He (Nirjhar) is responsible for my death. If I die you will be responsible for it.”

Sabira wrote a post on Facebook around 4:30am today before committing suicide. Mentioning Rounaq’s name in the post, she wrote: “if i die he will be responsible for my death.”

Hours after recovering the body, police detained Sabira’s boyfriend Nirjhar Sinha Rounaq in this connection.

Nirjhar confessed that he had an affair with Sabira and she has been putting pressure on him to get married, the OC added. Police suspect that Sabira being frustrated over her disturbed affair had committed suicide.

There are some intimate photos of Sabira with Nirjhar in her Facebook timeline. Sabira in a Facebook video post on Tuesday blamed Nirjhar for indirectly forcing her to choose suicide.

Model Sabira Hossain has allegedly committed suicide, in her house, in the capital’s Mirpur area while her boyfriend Nirjhar Sinha Rounaq has been detained in this connection on Tuesday.

Sabira’s maternal uncle, Humayun Kabir, told journalists that preparations were going on to file a case in this regard.

Sabira’s father is Monir Hossain. He lives in Dubai. Her mother lives at Mohammadpur. Sabira used to live under sub-let introducing Nirjhar as her husband.

It must be noted that, looking at the video posted by the demised, it was surely identifiable that, she was not mentally stable at that time. Her actions might lead to a lot of controversy.

But here, not only the actions of Nirjhar but also that of his family members should be investigated by the police as they tend to know and kept silent of an illicit relationship. However, suicide cannot be the solution of any problem and only sympathy can be conveyed to the demised.
