SSC result published with a success rate of 88.29%

sss1The results of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations for 2016 have been published with a success rate of 88.29%. This is 1.25 percentage points higher than that of last year.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid formally handed over a copy of SSC and equivalent examinations results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Gono Bhaban on Wednesday morning.

According to the Education Ministry, a total of 1,09,761 students secured the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) this. Nahid will unveil the results at a press briefing at the secretariat at 1pm.

Following the formal announcement, the results will be made available at schools. The results will also be available at education board’s website www.educationboardresults.gov.bd.

This year some 1,651,523 students from 28,119 educational institutions took part in the SSC examination under eight general, one madrasa and one technical education boards.

Students under Madrasa Education Board did well this year with the pass rate of 88.22 percent while 83.11 percent students passed vocational exams in the SSC.

The success rate in the school-leaving exams last year was 87.04 percent. Beginning on February 1, the written examinations ended on March 8 while the practical tests were held from March 9 to 14.

After the inception of CGPA system in the exams of SSC and HSC, it has become important to attain good grades at these tests as admission for higher education now crucially depends on the grades achieved. GPA-5 achievers have declined in numbers this year compared to that of previous year.

Hence, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed her content to the result. But now it is going to be a fight for the admission for these students and their guardians.

The results of HSC will also be published soon.
