MNA International Desk: A group of Iranian protesters demanded Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei step down on Saturday after Tehran said that its military had mistakenly shot down a Ukrainian plane, killing all 176 people on board. “Commander-in-chief (Khamenei) resign, resign,” videos posted on Twitter showed hundreds of people chanting, in front of Tehran’s Amir Kabir university. MNA International Desk: Five boats believed to belong to Iranian Revolutionary Guards approached a British oil tanker in the Gulf on Wednesday and asked it to stop in Iranian waters close by, but withdrew after a British warship warned them, US officials said. Britain’s Ministry of Defense had no immediate comment. Plane crash kills 66 in Iran

MNA International Desk: An Iranian commercial plane, carrying 66 passengers, crashed in a foggy, mountainous region of southern Iran on Sunday, killing all people on board. An Aseman Airlines ATR-72, a twin-engine turboprop used for short-distance regional flying, went down near its destination of the southern Iranian city of Yasuj, some 780 kilometers (485 miles) south of the Iranian capital, Tehran, news agency reports quoting Iran’s state media. Acclaimed Iranian film director Kiarostami died at 76

MNA Culture & Entertainment Desk: The multi-award-winning acclaimed Iranian film director Abbas Kiarostami, whose 1997 film ‘Taste of Cherry’ was awarded the Palme d’Or at the Cannes film festival, has died at aged 76. Kiarostami died in Paris, where he had gone for cancer treatment last week after undergoing surgery in Iran earlier this year.
