MNA Business Desk: Bangladesh Bank has suspended all kind of mobile-based financial services (MFS) for temporary basis ahead of the December 30 national election, reported news agency. All MFS providers have been asked to keep mobile-based financial services suspended from 5:00pm on December 28 to 5:00pm on December 30, the central bank said in a circular today. MNA Business Desk: Grameenphone has been given the permission to use ‘013’  as a second prefix for mobile-phone numbers in addition to the old ‘017’series. BTRC Chairman Shahjahan Mahmood said that the operator has been permitted to use the new series on some conditions. But the BTRC chief did not disclose the conditions. However, Grameenphone applied for the new prefix last year, stating around 100 million numbers with ‘017’ prefix would soon be exhausted. MNA Business Report: Tarana Halim, State Minister for Post and Telecommunications, said on Tuesday that Citycell users have only 7 days to switch to another operator. Tarana Halim later confirmed that her division has decided in principle to cancel the licence of Citycell, the oldest mobile-phone operator in Bangladesh. Dr. Shahjahan Mahmood, Telecom regulators BTRC Chairman, said the authorities will shut down the company anytime. BTRC will inform the Citycell consumers to switch to other operators within Aug 16, Mahmood also advised.
