PEC, Ebtedayee exams to begin on Nov 19

MNA Education Desk: This year’s Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee exams for fifth graders in schools and madrasas will start on Nov 19, reported news agency. The date was set during a meeting headed by Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman at the secretariat on Tuesday. The test duration will be two and a half hours. A total of 2.85 million students are taking the exams this year. The tests will end on Nov 26 and results will be published by the end of December. 45,000 vacant posts of teacher in primary schools

MNA Education Desk: Some 45,000 posts of teacher are lying vacant in primary schools across the country, Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman told Parliament. “A total of 17,615 posts of headmaster and 27,388 posts of assistant teacher remain vacant in primary school,” he said replying to a tabled question from ruling Awami League MP Laila Arjuman Banu (Women-8). Of the vacant posts of headmaster, 8,736 vacant posts are in government primary schools, while 8,255 in nationalized primary school and the remaining 624 have been created under a project taken to set up 1,500 new schools, he said.
