MNA Science & Technology Desk: The total number of internet subscribers in Bangladesh reached 94.4 million at the end of May this year. Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar gave the information in the parliament on Tuesday. “The number of the country’s total internet users was only 6.0 million in December 2008 and it now reached 94.4 million in May 2019,” he said. MNA Tech Desk: Facebook’s privacy controls have broken down yet again, this time through a software flaw affecting nearly 7 million users who had photos exposed to a much wider audience than intended. The bug disclosed Friday gave hundreds of apps unauthorized access to photos that could in theory include images that would embarrass some of the affected users. They also included photos people may have uploaded but hadn’t yet posted, perhaps because they had changed their mind. MNA Business Report: Tarana Halim, State Minister for Post and Telecommunications, said on Tuesday that Citycell users have only 7 days to switch to another operator. Tarana Halim later confirmed that her division has decided in principle to cancel the licence of Citycell, the oldest mobile-phone operator in Bangladesh. Questioned what would happen to 400 Citycell workers once the operator closed, she replied, “It’s their internal matter. MNA Technology Desk: The transparency report of Google on Monday said they have replied to Bangladesh’s request to deliver info about some of its users. As the report stated that Bangladesh has demanded Google to deliver some of the users’ info and it responded positively. Bangladesh requested for info about 4 accounts in three requests in the first phase, against which Google did not reply completely, but it did respond positively to the second call where information about nine accounts were desired in four requests.
