Veteran film actress Diti is no more

Veteran screen personality, film actress Parvin Sultana Diti is no more. She lost a long battle against cancer and died at United Hospital of Dhaka City today.

United Hospital’s officials confirmed that she died on Sunday afternoon while was admitted at the said hospital.

General Secretary of Film Director’s Association later informed that, the body of the late actress will be kept at the hospital for today. Her first zanaja (funeral prayer) will be held at BFDC tomorrow morning and after that, her body will be taken to her village at Sonargaon at tomorrow noon where she will be buried beside her mother after another zanaja prayer.

Diti was sick and suffering for a long time. She was only middle-aged but did not receive any satisfactory treatment at several hospitals of Bangladesh. Later she got herself admitted at Madras Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology Hospital for further treatment. The doctors there informed her that she had got brain tumor. A successful surgery was done there on July 25 of last year. She later went to Madras again for treatment as despite the removal of the tumors, she was not feeling comfortable. After the surgery she was receiving chemotherapy regularly. Later she returned to Bangladesh and was under treatment at the United Hospital.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina donated 10 lacs taka for Diti’s treatment as She handed over the check to the belated actress’s daughter when they returned to Bangladesh.

We will not find the smiling face of our beloved actress anymore on the screen but she will be always shining in our memory.
