MNA National Desk: Prime minister Sheikh Hasina urged the citizens not to eat hilsa in Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla calendar, to help boost production of the country’s national fish.
“Please, don’t take hilsha on Pahela Baishakh, don’t catch hilsa. Please, take khichuri, vegetables, burned dry chili and omelet or egg fry on the day,” she said.
The premier made the request while addressing a press conference at her official Ganabhaban residence here this afternoon.
The press conference was convened to brief the media about the outcome of her just-concluded official visit to India.
However, the prime minister didn’t include the national fish in her Pahela Baishakh menu at Ganabhaban last year.
