High Court to observe Oishee Rahman’s mental state

MNA National Desk: Death row convict Oishee Rahman was produced before the court on Monday as the High Court will observe her mental condition following a report on her mental health.

Earlier, on 3 April, an HC bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim and Justice Md. Jahangir Hossain sked the authorities concerned to produce Oishee before the court on 10 April.

She was brought to the court on a previous order by the bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim and Justice Md Jahangir Hossain.

At the beginning of the hearing, the court said that a report filed by doctors at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) says the teenage girl has been diagnosed with mental illness.

A petition over the matter has been filed and that’s why the court ordered to produce her, it said.

However, Dhaka court sentenced Oishee, who murdered her parents in 2013, to death on November 12, 2015.
