Khaleda appears court in graft cases, next hearing Jan 26

MNA National Desk: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia appeared before a Dhaka court on Thursday in Zia Charitable Trust and Zia Orphanage Trust graft cases.

The court fixed January 26 for holding next hearings on two corruption cases against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The BNP chief appeared before the court of judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of Dhaka Special Judge Court-3, set up on the playground of Govenment Alia Madrasah in the capital’s Bakshibazar, around 10:45am.

The court fixed the date for hearing of the case after Khaleda’s time petition before it seeking adjournment.

On January 5, Judge Md Abu Ahmed Jamadar of Dhaka Special Judge Court-3 adjourned the trial proceedings until on January 12.

On July 3, 2008, the ACC filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case with Ramna police station, accusing Khaleda, her son Tarique Rahman and four others for embezzlement of over Tk 2.10 crore.
