2 dead as fire burns three buildings in Uttara

MNA National Desk: Two people died after a morning fire swept through three buildings that housed a restaurant and a hotel in Dhaka’s Uttara.

Fire Service said the fire started around 5:30am on Monday on the second floor of the four-storey building that housed the Sea Shell Restaurant. The fire left the restaurant completely damaged.

It spread to the adjacent six-storey building of Sea Shell Hotel & Residence where the two guests — a man and a woman — were found dead in a room.

The fire also partially damaged a third building, AK Tower. The fire also engulfed ‘Ekushey Sweet and Bakery’ outlet and the branch office of ICB Islami Bank Limited located on the ground and 1st floors of the Seashell Residence building.

On information, 15 fire-fighting units rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control, said Major Shakil, director (operations) of the Fire Service.
